Melinda A. Lawless Coker has been a Family Therapist for more than 28 years and became a Psychologist 14 years ago. In addition, she’s been an Addictions Professional for more than 24 years and became a Psychodramatist over 6 years ago. She works with individuals, couples, families, and groups using action methods to confront trauma, enhance healthier communication, and support positive changes. She is also a graduate educator and clinical supervisor for new therapists.
With regard to her philosophy and provision of therapy, Melinda (or M.A.) compassionately orients herself to the unique needs of her diverse clients, establishing strong therapeutic alliances. This nurturing environment is indeed a spiritual journey for many of us, which often includes staying connected to others through our life experiences. This groundedness means not having to always explain ourselves, so that we can perceive ourselves and others differently. And it’s essential to be gentle with each other and to learn how practical it is to be in the here and now.
